The Sport of Choice?
I was reading an article on youth sports and it discussed the growing problem of "Parent Participation". There is a major crisis now with referees, parents and even the young players getting hurt by overzealous parents. Spectators are taking their anger out on the coaches, mostly volunteers, and I had to try to remember when was the last time I saw this behavior at a swim meet. Never! What other sport has first aid trained personnel on deck at all times? What sport has a level playing field where every kid has a fair shot at winning and everyone plays? Chose Swimming as your Sport of Choice and I guarantee that you won’t regret it!
May 13-14th, swimmers will have a chance to raise money for our club. Packets will be available soon with information about gathering pledges. Pledges can be for a set dollar amount or per lap. Prizes will also be awarded for most laps completed by a swimmer at each level (gold, silver, and bronze) and for the swimmer who collects the most money. Any swimmer bringing in $20 or more for the Swim-a-Thon will receive a vintage RFST T-shirt. Parents must be on hand to assist in official lap counting. Mark your calendar, plan to attend and help us reach our goal of $1,000. For more details call Becky Petersen at (360) 829-4285. RFST Web Site
